A new site launch SEO journal - day 30

Wow has it really been 30 days already for the Youth Soccer Tournament Directory Launch?

In the time we have had the following progress with SEO.

MSN - Currently listing all of our pages including the dynamically generated “submit a tournament pages” and brings in the most search engine traffic (70.9%). We are doing very well in searches such as - Soccer Tournament, Youth Soccer Tournaments and many of the states are doing well with (insert State) Soccer Tournaments. — Very happy with MSN.

Yahoo - Coming in second with search engine traffic (11.7%) but they are only listing 9 of our site pages. This actually seems to be good news for the future. Once all 140 pages get listed there could be a good jump in Yahoo Traffic. It seems to me that deep linking to individual pages is the quickest way to get yahoo to pick you up. For example — currently the New York Soccer Tournaments page is not listed in yahoo. Now that I just deep linked to it, I expect to see that page being added in a shorter period of time. (I will report back when I see it added.)

Google - Coming in third with search engine traffic (10.3%). Google has long ago listed all our pages but we don’t rank for any terms except the occasion specific tournament search. Google continues to keep up with the sitemap we have prepared. We will just wait out the “sandbox”.

  1. As an FYI. in the article above I stated that New York Soccer Tournaments was not yet indexed but once I list it in my blog here it would get listed. It is now listed as of 6/30/2005. (3 days later).

Yahoo must like blogs and deep linking from a blog is a excellent way to get newer site pages indexed faster.

I wonder if there is a limit though. What would happen if I just deep linked to every page at one time? Too bad I don’t have the time to list more than recently updated tournaments.
